Junior League Development Officer John joins the NSWRL Western Sydney Academy after three years with Les Catalans Dragons in the English Super League, and prior to that a 5-year career with Wests Tigers. John was part of the 2005 premiership winning Tigers squad, and played his junior Rugby League for Parramatta. Throughout his playing career, John was active in the junior development area of his clubs and this has translated to a full time career in Rugby League development. He rates the 2007 Challenge Cup Final against St Helens – played in front of 95,000 fans at the then newly-renovated Wembley Stadium – as one of the most memorably moments of his playing career. As Junior League Development Officer, John works closely with Junior League Development Coordinator Martin Shanahan to primarily maintain and build on the already strong foundation of junior Rugby League in western Sydney. John’s focus will be throughout the three major junior leagues in the area – Penrith DJRL, Parramatta DJRL and Wests Juniors - and you will find him doing coaching assessments, attending junior league training sessions, and assisting the level of coaching throughout the junior leagues. John lives with his wife of 6 years, Shona, and his three children, Tayla (11), Matthew (4), James (18 months), in Seven Hills. Now that he is no longer a professional footballer, John loves spending time with his kids on their hobbies and sports such as swimming and dancing lessons.
