Greg Mitchell

Manager

Greg Mitchell heads up the Integral Energy Western Sydney Academy following an 11-year tenure as general manager of the Parramatta Eels NRL club. Prior to this role, Greg was events and operations manager at the Australian Rugby Union for a year, after spending 12 years at the Australian and NSW Rugby League firstly as development manager and then as executive assistant to general manager John Quayle.

As Manager of the NSWRL Western Sydney Academy, Greg’s objectives are to manage and direct the staff and programs of the Academy and to work with the three NRL premiership clubs – Penrith Panthers, Wests Tigers and Parramatta Eels - and their junior leagues to achieve growth and profile for Rugby League in western Sydney.

Greg has overseen the development of the Academy’s model and structure, which aims to achieve, among several other targets, 25% growth in junior league participants in western Sydney and 12 new junior clubs by 2013.

Greg also aims to establish strong relationships with all levels of government to assist in the growth of the game in the region and generate further corporate support.

In his spare time Greg enjoys watching Rugby League, swimming and is an avid reader, counting Ian Rankin’s Rebus series among his favourites. He also enjoys going to the movies, with his favourite flick Cinema Paradiso.

Greg lives with wife Wendy (married 39 years) in Lapstone, and has three children - Meredith (34), Cameron (32) and Lindsay (30).
